What Foundayo is
Foundayo is orforglipron, a once daily tablet from Eli Lilly. The MHRA approved Foundayo on 10 August 2026 for adults with a BMI of at least 30, or 27 to 30 alongside a weight related condition. The MHRA also authorised Foundayo for blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes.
Why Foundayo has no food rule
Orforglipron is a small molecule, unlike semaglutide. Stomach acid and food do not destroy the dose, so the licence sets no fasting rule and no waiting time.
No NHS supply
Foundayo is not available on the NHS at present. NICE has guidance scheduled for 18 November 2026.
Trial results
In the phase three trial reported in the New England Journal of Medicine in September 2025, people lost 7.5%, 8.4% and 11.2% of body weight over 72 weeks on the three doses tested. The placebo group lost 2.1%. UK tablet strengths differ from the trial doses.
