Read this first. Eli Lilly does not support counting clicks. The KwikPen is licensed to give four full doses of one strength. A part dose is outside the licence. Count clicks only if your own prescriber has told you to, and follow the number your prescriber gives you.

The sum behind the calculator
Clicks equal 60 multiplied by your dose, divided by the pen strength. A 5mg dose from a 10mg pen is 60 multiplied by 5, divided by 10. The answer is 30 clicks.
Where the 60 comes from
Eli Lilly publishes no click count. The figure of 60 clicks for one full dose comes from pharmacy and patient reports. Penzilla has not verified the figure with the maker. Treat every number on this page as arithmetic, not as dosing advice.
What Eli Lilly says
Lilly tells patients not to count clicks. The dose is correct when you turn the dose knob until the pen stops and the dose window shows 1. The pen delivers four fixed doses across four weeks. Throw the pen away after the fourth dose, or 30 days after first use.
What can go wrong
- Miscounting. One slip gives you too much or too little medicine.
- An old pen. Part doses leave medicine in the pen past its in use limit.
- Infection. Every extra injection from one pen adds risk.
- No evidence. No published study supports click counting.
Too large a dose brings severe sickness. Call 111 if you think you have injected too much.
